Antiochia ad Orontem in Syria, as part of the Seleucid empire, Seleukos I Nikator (312-281 BC.), struck 285-281 BC.,
Tetrachalkon / Æ 20 (19-20 mm / 6,64 g),
Obv.: winged head of a Medusa / Gorgon right, with the features of Alexander III. (The Great).
Rev.:BAΣIΛEΩΣ above, ΣEΛEYKOY / Ξ (in exergue), bull butting right; oval countermark on bull: anchor (or a five pointed star ?).
SNG Spaer 23 var. (countermark) ; Newell, WSM, 925 var. ; Houghton, CSE, 9 var. ; SNG Copenhagen 36 var. ; Laffaille 566 var. (countermark, control letter) .

This countermark probably was applied during the reign of the Seleukid king Antiochos III.
