fake Liang (Tael) (40,5 mm / 33,06 g), copper-nickel alloy(?), genuine pieces show 37,4-37,8 g. silver, axes medal alignment ↑↑ (0°), reeded edge,
Obv.: ... , large stylized Chinese character "Fu" ("wealth").
Rev.: ... , Laotian and Chinese denomination: Laotian legend over 4 Chinese characters ("1 Tael pure silver").

wrong metal, rough surface, wrong weight

The precise identity of the issuer of genuine pieces is still not certain, nor the exact place of issue though the triangle of Yunnan Province-northern Laos-northern Burma seems likely. Believed struck to pay laborers in the mountains building the "Burma Road" or other Allied communication routes to China's wartime capital of Chungking.
