Gayant the giant is one symbole of Douai. Each year on the beginning of July, during three days take place the Gayant festival. The Gayant family composed of his wife Marie Cagenon and their three children, Jacquot, Fillon and Binbin, are carried throw the city. Sunday is the largest procession day starting from the town hall. Gayant is registered with the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity like member of Giants and processional dragons of Belgium and France.
