From the seventeenth century to present the Paris Mint was located at la Samaritaine (Pont Neuf / Quai du Louvre), 75001 Paris, France. The National Bank was formed by the agglomeration of small plots and medieval houses that gave this establishment a heterogeneous appearance. Not far from its location behind the church of Saint Germain l'Auxerrois, there is still the street where gallows had been set up to punish counterfeiters. The few plans of the eighteenth century show a succession of small rooms of different sizes and at different levels. Renovation projects were proposed in 1750 but were not immediately started. After an exchange agreement with a land located around the former Hotel de Conti, the Monnaie de Paris will be transferred to its current location. The old mint was demolished during the second half of the eighteenth century.
