Artuqids of Mardin, 580-597 AH / 1184-1201 AD., Husam al-Din Yuluq Arslan, AE-Dirham, S/S 34.
Artuqids of Mardin (AH 502-811 / 1108-1408 AD.), Husam al-Din Yuluq Arslan bin Il-Ghazi, citing as overlord the Ayyubid ruler Salah al-Din Yusuf b. Ayyub, i.e., Saladin, no mint or date, 580-597 AH / 1184-1201 AD.,
Æ Unit / Æ Dirham (31-32 mm / 12,93 g.), copper, axes irregular alignment ↑↖ (ca. 300°),
Obv.: ﺮﻜﺑ ﺭﺎﻳﺩ ﻚﻠﻣ ﻦﻳﺪﻟ ﻡﺎﺴﺣ , "Hüsameddin Melik-i Diyarbekir" , to right: large diademed Roman-style head facing left (similar to Nero or the Sun ?); to left: small draped and crowned bust facing in Byzantine style (Jupiter ?); above "Husam al-Din Malik Diyarbakir".
Rev.: ﻦﻳﺪﻟ ﺡﻼﺻ ﺮﺻﺎﻨﻟﺍ ﻚﻠﻤﻟﺍ ﺏﻮﻳﺍ ﻦﺑ ﻒﺳﻮﻳ ﻦﻴﻨﻣﺆﻤﻟﺍﺮﻴﻣﺍ ﻪﻟﻭﺩﻰﺤﻣ , "El Melik el-Nasır Salaheddin Muhiyyüd' Devle emir'ül müminin Yusuf bin Eyub" , legend for "Salah-ad Din al-Malik al-Nasir / Salah ad-Din / Muhiyy dawla / Amir al-mu’minin and Yusuf / bin Ayyub".
Spengler/Sayles 34 ; Album 1829 ; BMC 405 ; Butak 31 .

On December 19, 1189 AD the Artuqid region witnessed an occulation of jupiter as it passed behind the sun. So some think the large Roman-style head left allegorises the Sun and the small Byzantine bust facing allegorises Jupiter.
Maybe these are simple allusions to still well known coin types of Claudius/Nero and Heraclius to ease the money exchange with the Byzantine empire.
