5 Rupees (ø 23.4 mm / 9,41 g), nickel-brass (non-magnetic), 9,50 g theor. mint weight, mintage 25.000.000, axis medal alignment ↑↑ (0°), reeded edge with inscription: "ශී.ලං.ම.බැං    இ.ம.வ.     C.B.C." for KM 148.1, 
Obv.: national emblem of Sri Lanka at center: a lion holding a sword in its right fore paw inside the holy lotus between a wreath of 2 spikes (ears) coming out of a golden jar, a traditional grain vase that sprouts sheaves of rice grains that circle the border, between (top) Dharmacakra (wheel of Dharma/life, symbolizing the country's foremost place for Buddhism and just rule) (bottom) a moon and a sun with a face  form the supporters, all surrounded by an edging.
