Vom 14.-18.5.1975 fand das III. Festival der Freundschaft zwischen der Jugend der UdSSR und der DDR in Halle an der Saale (damals DDR) statt, an dem 30.000 Sozialisten der DDR und Komsomolzen aus der UdSSR teilnahmen.

The Free German Youth, also known as the FDJ (German: Freie Deutsche Jugend), is a socialist youth movement in Germany. Formerly it was the official youth movement of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany.

Die Eissporthalle war in DDR-Zeiten in Halle sicherlich ein wichtiger, gesellschaftlicher Ort, mit Einrichtungen und genug Platz vor und im Gebäude, wo ein Teil der Veranstaltungen stattfinden konnte (siehe Kurzinhalt Der Augenzeugt 1975).
