Ephesos in Ionia, Augustus and Livia, Assarion, modern fake, cf. RPC 2585.
Ephesos in Ionia, Augustus and Livia, issued by magistrates Asklas (Archiereus of Artemis) and Nikostratos (Grammateus), prototype 27 BC. - 14 AD., modern (cast and patinated?) fake ca. 2000-2012 AD., Bulgarian origin,
fake Assarion / Æ 19 / Æ-unit (19-20 mm / 4,56 g), bronze, axes about medal alignment ↑↑ (ca. 340°),
Obv.: jugate bare heads of Augustus (in front) and Livia (behind) facing right, drapery around Livia´s neck, no laurel wreath on Augustus´head.
Rev.: AΡXIEΡ-EΥΣ AΣK-ΛAΣ E-ΦE NIKOΣTΡA , stag of Artemis r., [bowcase above?], (casting-?) dot below body.
cf. RPC I, 436, 2585 (4 specimens listed, 6,45 - 7,84 g.) ; - BMC Ionia p. 72, 199 ; Paris 606 ; Vienna 17138 and 30813 .

evidence: off style for Ephesos of this era, "Bulgarian" eye-style,
weight much too low for this denomination and state of preservation (all found online or in catalogues show more than 6,2 g.),
missing laurel on emperor´s head (laurel wreath indicating the emperor on all known genuine coins of this series showing double portraits), "dotted" letters and dot in field below stag, missing quiver, known specimens show the second name completely "NIKOΣTΡATOΣ", (crusty black patina without traces of green copper compounds or corrosion).
