194 AD., Julia Domna, Rome mint, Dupondius, RIC 844.
Julia Domna, Rome mint, early 194 AD.,
Æ Dupondius (22-24 mm / 7,14 g), (yellow metal inside),
Obv.: [IVLIA DO] - MNA AVG , her draped bust facing right, hair waved and coiled at back.
Rev.: [FE]CVN[DIT]AS / S C , Fecunditas seated right with child (Geta) at breast, a second child (Caracalla) standing before her.
RIC IV, I, 207, 844 (pl. 11, 4) (R) ; BMC 494 ; cf. Coh. 43 .
Comment of Curtis Clay on this type: "It's Cohen 43, erroneously giving AVGVSTA instead of AVG in the obverse legend.
Cohen's first edition, no. 141, does NOT have this error. (...)
This coin occurs as both dupondius (yellow metal) and As (red metal). I was able to determine the exact date of the type in my unpublished thesis: early 194."
