Pautalia in Thracia, 203-210 AD., Caracalla, 3 Assaria, Ruzicka 715.
Pautalia in Thracia, Caracalla, 203-210 AD.,
3 Assaria / Æ23 (22-23 mm / 9.15 g),
Obv.: AV K M AVP - ANTΩNIN , laureate (draped? and ) cuirassed bust of the youthful, unbearded Caracalla Augustus right.
Rev.: OYΛ[Π]IAC - ΠAY[TAΛ]IAC , Tyche, draped and with Kalathos, stg. l., holding cornucopiae and rudder.
Ruzicka, Pautalia 715 = SNG Copenhagen 712 (1 specimen) ; Moushmov 4293 .

Curtis Clay:
"Ruzicka 715 cites just one specimen, Copenhagen, that is SNG Copenhagen 712, so his knowledge of Caracalla's facial hair was dependent on just this one coin.
As far as I can make out, [this] specimen is from the same dies as the Copenhagen coin, and it is in much better condition. It shows a youthful, unbearded portrait of Caracalla Augustus, so that must be the correct description of the Copenhagen coin too.
Ramus' earlier catalogue of the Copenhagen collection includes a coin of Pautalia with Tyche standing rev. type, which is assigned to Elagabalus and is said to have a radiate portrait. It seems probable that this is a misdescription of SNG Copenhagen 712 of Caracalla with laureate portrait, since Copenhagen has no other candidate to fit the description. However this question is irrelevant to our cataloguing of Arminius' coin. Mionnet simply reproduces Ramus' description of the coin, and neither work provides an illustration of it."
