Obv.: EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP: / DES. , (Edward VII by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India) , his bare head facing right, truncated below the neck, engraver´s initial below. . Toothed border with a narrow, raised rim.
Rev.: FARTH-ING / 1905 , Britannia, helmeted and wearing long robes, seated on a rock facing right. Her left hand is raised and grasps a plain trident just below the prongs. Her right hand rests on the upper left edge of a large oval shield bearing the crosses of St George and St Andrew (the Union Flag). On the right side, the horizon intersects Britannia exactly where her legs cross. Value above, date below, empty sea behind. Toothed border with a narrow, raised rim.

Edward VII's farthings were chemically darkened, to avoid the being confused for half sovereigns, these were very similar in size. The blackened finish that was introduced in 1897 on coins of Victoria was maintained on all the farthings of Edward VII.
