The Order of the Star of India is an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1861. No appointments have been made since Indian independence in 1947. With the death of the last surving knight, The Maharaja of Alwar, the order became dormant in 2009.
This type was restuck ca. 1942-45 AD. on a thinner planchet, due to a coin shortage caused by World War II. and put into circulation as an emergency coin (= KM 25),
