"rechenpfennig": Venuspenning - een van de vele imitatie Venusrekenpenningen, Zuid-Nederlands of Noord-Frans, eerste helft zestiende eeuw.
Between 1488 and 1550 such and similar "Venus"-counters / -jettons / -tokens were produced as imitations of official ones by and for counting offices.
These imitations were made in many varieties and quantities, with a fictitious inscription and also exported to England. They were very popular, because at that time they are almost the only numismatic object with a depiction od an (almost) naked woman.
From about 1540, comparable Venus Tokens also made in Nuremberg but with a readable legend and the name of the producer.
