Aban is the eighth month of the Iranian calendar. Aban has 30 days and begins in October and ends in November. According "Names of Aryan/Persian months and their forgotten meanings" Aban, is Avestan "Apas", "Api" in middle Persian and "Ap" in Phalavi. It means water (aub, in modern Persian). It is the protector Eyzad of the "waters" and an assistant to Spenta Armaiti.
