Obv.: RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO / SIMON / 1962 , his bust facing r. 
Rev.: DEO / JUVANTE - 50 / CENTIMES , Monk-knight holding a sword and protecting the crest of the Grimaldi. A monk with hand on shield divides motto, crown and value, standing front with sword between (left) crown above escutcheon (lozengy, c. 1297) and (motto) DEO / JUVANTE (translated: With God's Help), value to r., at lower-right, mint marks: bottom-left, mint director's privy mark cornucopia (Paris Mint, France) and lower-right, engraver general's privy mark owl (1957-1974 Raymond Joly).

Unlike the currencies of 50 French Centimes that were minted in 1962, 1963 and 1965, this is the only year of striking for this type. According to V. Gadoury, these currencies are harder to find. Their circulation started on August 12, 1963, they were demonetized on November 1, 1965.
