The reverse may refer to a Lex Porcia that extended the right of provocatio also to the Roman citizens within the provinces. This right was a result of the wars between patricians and plebeians. It gave a Roman citizen the opportunity to make an appeal to the Roman people when a magistrate tried to attack him without juristical reason.
