Seleukeia Pieria in Syria, Septimius Severus, 193-211 AD.,
Æ 23 (21-23 mm / 7,77 g),
Obv.: [AVT]OK Λ CЄΠT C[ЄOVH ΠЄP CЄB], laureate head of Septimius Severus right.
Rev.: [CEΛЄVKЄ]ΩN Π-[IЄΡI]AC, thunderbolt (with fillet attached) on cushion, placed on stool; countermarked with SSAV in roughly rectangular punch, 3.5 x 6.5 mm.
BMC 49 ; Lindgren 2129 ; for countermark: Howgego 721 (4 pieces listed).
Howgego describes the countermark as uncertain, but it certainly appears to read SSAV .
