Obv.: IMP CM IVL PHILIPPVS PF AVG P M , radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip right, seen from behind. 
Rev.: PAX FVNDA-TA CVM PERSIS , Pax standing l., holding branch and transverse scepter.

The abbreviation P M at the end of the obverse legend means "PERSICVS MAXIMVS". The reverse legend on this coin "peace established with Persia" makes reference to one of Philip's first acts as emperor - the peace treaty with the Sasanian king Shapur I. Also, the P M used in the obverse legend refers to 'Persicus Maximus' as opposed to 'Pontifex Maximus.
