Rev.: 50 КOПEEK / 1922 , a five pointed star, surrounded by laurel and oak wreath, with the amount of fifty kopek impressed above the star in its center, the date below it.

The hammer and sickle, the famous icon of communism, was invented by the red revolutionaries in Russia in 1917. It symbolises the unity of the two groups of working-class people, factory workers and farmers.
The symbol wasn't officially adopted as the soviet emblem until 1922, when that coin was made. Prior to this, the symbol for the Russian Revolution was a hammer and plough.
