Obv.: EAST INDIA COMPANY / AUSP: REGIS & SENAT: ANGLIÆ , coat of arms of the East India Company: two lions, St Georges cross on the crest and flags, motto on the ribbon "Auspicio Regis et Senatus Angliae" (By the Command of the King and Parliament of England), legend above and motto on ribbon below below the arms of the Company with the date below, on the ribbon is the abbreviated version of the Latin text "AUSPICIO REGIS ET SENATUS ANGLIAE", all within a raised toothed rim. 
Rev.: QUARTER ANNA / ١٢۴۶ , balanced scales with Persian legend between the pans (translation = Adil = just or fair), value above, AH date (1246) in Arabic figures below, plain lines holding pans, scales have one horizontal line. All within a raised toothed rim.

There are various varieties of the quarter anna (to be investigated): different size letters in Adil, plain and beaded lines to ropes holding pans, pivot of the scales may be plain or have horizontal lines.
