Rev.: NON * INVLTVS - PREMOR * 1634 , city coat of arms (containing a thistle with two leaves) in an oval frame, city motto around.
Feuardent - (cf. 7671) . 

The city motto "Non inultus premor" ("I cannot be touched unavenged" or "No one can harm me unpunished"), is referring to the victory of 1477 against Charles the Bold, also a reference to the depicted thistle.
The Battle of Nancy was the final and decisive battle of the Burgundian Wars, fought outside the walls of Nancy on 5 January 1477 between Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, against René II, Duke of Lorraine, and the Swiss Confederacy.
René's forces won the battle, and Charles' mutilated body was found three days later.
