Obv.: الجمهوريه التونسية / 2013-1434 , ("Republic of Tunisia") , coat of arms of Tunisia (a shield divided in three sections. Above, a sailor (representing freedom) is floating left on a sea of waves, below, scales to left (representing justice) and to the right a rampant lion standing left (representing order), national motto "Øرية، نظام، عدالة" at center on a banner, meaning "liberty, justice, order". Above a crescent with six-pointed star), all within circle, two sprigs flanking Islamic and Gregorian date in western numerals.
Rev.: لبنك المركزي التونسية / ELMEKKI / نص٠½ دينار , ("central bank of Tunisia / half a dinar") , hand holding wheat above a hand holding three oranges, value below, engraver´s name to left.

Hatem El Mekki (May 16, 1918- September 23, 2003) was a prominent Tunisian painter.
He was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. From 1957, his artwork appeared on a large number of postage stamps of Tunisia.
He died at Carthage in 2003.
