Rev.: 壹 / 枚 - "one / Mei", two Chinese characters, financial "number one" over Mei ("one piece 10-cash copper coin"), wreath of grain ears and leaves, slender leaves and short ribbon.

The two flags depicted on the obverse are the flags of the Wuchang Uprising, adopted by the Nationalist Army as a military banner, and the Five Races Flag of the Republic of China. 

Taiyuan (Chinese: 太原; pinyin: Tàiyuán; Mandarin pronunciation: [tʰaɪ̯˥˩ɥɛn˧˥]) is the capital and largest city of Shanxi Province in North China. A prefecture-level city, in 2010, it had a total population of 4.3 million. The name of the city literally means "Great Plains", referring to the location where the Fen River leaves the mountains. After 1911, Shanxi remained under control by warlord Yen Hsi-shan who retained control of the area from 1913 to 1948.
