Obv.: + SAИCTA - mARIA , Virgin Mary, nimbate and seated facing on throne, cruciform scepter in right hand, infant Jesus in left; two crosses above beside her head. (convex side) - ülô, glóriás Madonna, jobbjában jogar, felül két kereszt.
Rev.: RЄ-X BELA (on left, running counterclockwise - RЄ-[X STS] (on right, running clockwise) , Bela III and Stephan IV, the two kings seated on thrones facing each within double Gothic niches, both wearing crown with pendilia and holding cruciform scepter and globus cruciger; long cross between, inverted crescent and three lines in exergue. (concave side) - két szembenézô király trónuson, közöttük hosszú kereszt, alul félhold, benne három vonás.

Contemporary scyphate Byzantine copper trachys are the prototypes of this issue, as Béla III spent a long period at the Byzantine court. Bela's allegiance to the Byzantine Empire was secured when Manuel I declared him Despot, a title which had previously been reserved for the emperor himself.
