China, Northern Song dynasty (960-1127 AD.), emperor: Hui Zong (reign 1101-25 AD.), reign title: Chong Ning (1102-06 AD.), issued 1103-1105 AD.,
10 Cash (ø 35,5 mm / 10,75 g (ca. 3 qian)), cast, plain edge, square center hole,
Obv.: 崇 寧 重 寳 , Chong Ning Zhong Bao (Chung Ning Chung Pao), top-down-right-left of center hole; large characters.
Rev.: plain (square center hole).
Hartill 16.407 (rarity level 14, very common) ; Schjöth 622 ; FD 1050 .

In 1103 Chong Ning zhongbao 10 cash were cast and ordered to be circulated everywhere except for the iron coin areas of Shaanxi, Shanxi and Sichuan. Each of these weighed 3 qian (ca. 11 g.) and contained 60 % copper, 30 % lead and 10 % tin.
in 1104 the 1 and 5 cash coins were abolished and sole reliance placed on 10 cash coins. Even 2 cash coins which had been kept in reserve were reminted into 10 cash coins
The production of these Chong Ning zhongbao 10 cash coins was halted in 1105 for practical reasons.
Chong (崇) has the meaning of "sublime" and "worship". Ning (寧) can translate as "tranquil" and "peaceful".
