Rev.: Arab script, fixed regnal year 22 of Muhammad Shah, AH1152 / RY.22 (1739-40 AD.) .

An issue of the Indian Princely State of Jaisalmer. The first issues of this State are copies of the rupees of Muhammad Shah with the regnal year 22. Jaisalmir city was established by Rawal Jaisal, after whom both the city and the State were named. Jaisalmir reached its zenith during the Mughal era. With the Mughal disintegration, Jaisalmir too fell upon hard times and most of its outlying province was lost. The State came under British protection in 1818 and after India got its independence in 1947, the city became part of Rajasthan in 1949.
