562-563 AD., Justinian I., Ravenna or Rome mint, Decanummium, Sear 326.
Justinian I., Ravenna or Rome mint, 561-562 AD.,
Decanummium / Æ16 (15-16 mm / 4.16 g),
Obv.: [DN IVSTI] - NIANVS PP A[VC] , diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed facing bust, holding globus cruciger and shield; cross to right.
Rev.: Large I between A / N / N / O and XX / XVI (regnal year 36 = 562-3 AD.).
Sear BC 326 ; DOC I 353 .

Hahn assigns all the dated Italian 10 nummi to the mint of Rome, but on stylistic grounds Ravenna seems the proper attribution. These 10 nummi are generally noted with finer style portraits, and as capital of Byzantine Italy Ravenna would have attracted the most talented engravers.
